Daniel's Tip #4, Redken Water Wax

Katie Holmes has those great, chunky bangs that totally fringe her super cute face. But from time to time, she does a more side-swept look. Side-swept bangs are great when you're sick of the regular every day bangs you had, when you're growing them out, or if you have short enough layers in the front, you can create a bang.

Here's how to use the Water Wax to achieve a side-swept bang.

If you already have bangs this will be a little easier, if not, you may have to put some elbow grease into it. Either start with wet hair, but if you can't, use a fine toothed comb to dampen the hair around the desired bang area, and choose a more severe side part. Use just a little bit (and I mean a little!) of the Redken Water Wax on the wet hair, this will help it learn where you want it to go. Using your blow dryer, coax the hair to go the opposite direction of your part. This might be more difficult depending on your hair type and how much of a bang you're using. Maybe start with a lighter more whispy bang in the begining.

Keep drying until your hair is almost totally dry. If you have one, feel free to finish off with a quick straightening iron, though it shouldn't be necessary. Again use a little Water Wax to finish, tapping some right on the part to keep it solid (the hair will naturally want to go back to its "normal" part) and then also focusing on the ends to keep it together at the side of the face.

(Also, this picture of Katie also shows the same type of use of the wax to show off definition on the ends of layers!)
